Athiná was born 1958 in Athens. She studied French Literature at the University of Athens, and Direction of Plays at the Stavrakou School in Athens and the ESSEC in Paris. She has been employed by the Greek State Television (NET) as director since 1985. She has been working for the Press as a photographer since 1990.

She has also worked as stage photographer for the theatre and the cinema. Since 1999 she has been participating in various photography missions (Palestine, Yemen, Tibet, Turkey, Georgia, Egypt etc.)
